Consultancy for perfect interfaces

Benefits

Only when shoes have a perfect fit, top performance is possible. Only when the interface fits human movement, perception, language, learning and thinking top performance is possible.

For some this is an unusual approach. So are the results. Some examples.

Benefits:
ERP
'Efficient' is having a project manager, feet on the table and smoking cigars. From the corner of his eyes he can see on a screen that a problem arises. The problem is solved sending some half automated mails. In this case again not KISS, with only one 'on' button and one 'off' button. The project leader is responsible for installing technical equipment in a newly built hospital.

Fiction? 'Yes' for some users of ERP software. 'No' for users of the ERP-software My-Project developed by Acto (Dutch). The opinions of others: an article (Dutch) .

Human Efficiency specified the interface for this project.

Benefits:
train control
Efficient is a train control system for high speed trains that enables a Lapland train driver to drive without specific training (but having insight in all necessary pre World War II and modern GPS-based safety systems) to Sicily with 500 km.
Human Efficiency provided the psychological specifications for the interface of ETCS (European Train Control System) for ERRI (European Rail Research Institute of the UIC).

More: Opinions of others:
honourable mention Design Prize Town Rotterdam.

European Train Control System; the safety system for European high speed trains, etcs

More benefits:
  • Benefits public transport information: train ticket vending machine

  • Benefits public transport information: structuring departures on dynamic displays

  • No navigation problems, no costs for education, no not using the system, no helpdesk for the interface, no changing the interface every five years.

  • No discussion because fundamental scientific knowledge is available: psychology straightforwardly dictates the best interface. Examples of such dictates (all in Dutch): personalization and customization, learning psychological analysis of current help technology, the menu, using metaphors, using guidelines standards and norms, personal assistants.
